How does OSTENIL® TENDON work?
OSTENIL® TENDON contains 2 % sodium hyaluronate, a naturally occurring substance found in healthy joints and soft tissues. When applied around an irritated or injured tendon, it improves lubrication, reduces friction and “stickiness” between the tendon and surrounding structures, and helps the tendon glide more smoothly again – similar to re-oiling a stiff mechanism.
Sodium hyaluronate also:

Together, these effects help reduce pain, restore tendon movement, and improve overall function.
How is OSTENIL® TENDON administered?
The treatment is quick and minimally invasive. OSTENIL® TENDON is injected into the area around the affected tendon using ultrasound guidance, which allows precise placement of the injection and improves accuracy and safety.
All injections are performed by a trained and experienced practitioner with expertise in musculoskeletal ultrasound and injection techniques.
For tendons that lie within a tendon sheath, the injection is placed directly into the sheath. Normal movement of the tendon then helps distribute the lubricant along its length.
In more persistent or long-standing tendon conditions, a second injection may be recommended, usually around one week after the first, to optimise the treatment effect.
