Aynsley Fry sports pilates, rehabilitation

I have been a fitness conditioner and running my own company for the past 15 years, I fell into Pilates by accident. At the time people were talking about it a lot, so I enrolled on the training course because I wanted to try something new and to see what all the hype was about. My first impression was how hard it was or more to the point how rubbish I was at it, muscles were being used that I never new I had.

As a result my enthusiasm to understand and teach this new discipline began to grow. But it wasn’t until I began studying to become an osteopath that I really began to see the benefits of a well tailored, supervised Pilates programme. I encountered more and more people that were benefiting from this form of exercise regime.

At gecko fitness we have never been attracted to fad style workouts or celebrity diet plans, but with Pilates we truly believe in its benefits. We are passionate about delivering a studio timetable and package to suit everyone’s needs, including rehabilitation from serious injury, improved core stability for sporting performance, or just a break from the stresses of everyday life.

Pilates on its own is not a magic cure but it is a vital component of any exercise or rehabilitation programme and the way it is delivered is key. This is why we offer one 2 one sessions, and our classes are limited to only 8 people to ensure maximum results and understanding of the concept.

Tip of the month

Do The Maths

Do you actually know how much salt you need? The current average daily intake for adults is 8.6 grams. You would see a significant decrease in the risk of heart disease and high blood pressure if you were to reduce that to 3 grams. The trouble is not many of us truly appreciate how easy it is [...]

Roll Away Those Aches & Pains

Foam rolling is a self-myofacial release (SMR) technique that is used by athletes and physical therapists to inhibit overactive muscles.
